Interpol puts Ukraine ex-leader on wanted list

Interpol issues a global wanted "red notice" for former Ukraine president Viktor Yanukovych for misappropriation of funds and embezzlement

Interpol has issued an arrest warrant for Viktor Yanukovych, the formerUkrainian president who was ousted in a revolution last February.

Mr Yanukovych, 64, is wanted on charges of embezzlement and financial wrongdoing, according to a notice posted on the organisation's website on Monday.

Ukraine says the so-called red notice allows any police force in the world to apprehend Mr Yanukovych, who has been living in Russia since his overthrow nearly a year ago.

Ukrainian authorities accuse Mr Yanukovych of presiding over a culture of systematic corruption that enriched a small circle of relatives and close associates during his four years in power.
